This is always a time when I reflect on the past year and what has transpired, as well as spend a bit of time wondering what the new year will bring. Time is one of those interesting dimensions that benchmark our lives; a dimension that doesn‟t restrict God who is omnipresent, but dominates much of our thought. So, as we consider what this unit of time called 2012 will hold, I wanted to offer a bit of perspective. I recently read an illustration entitled “WHICH WINDOW?” written by a woman named Catherine Marshall about an event which her friend had experienced aboard a plane bound for Cleveland as she was waiting for takeoff. Marge had just settled into her seat when she noticed a strange phenomenon. On one side of the airplane a sunset bathed the entire sky with glorious color. But out of the other window, all Marge could see was a dark and threatening sky with no sign of the sunset. As the plane‟s engines began to roar, a gentle Voice spoke within her. “ „You have noticed the windows,‟ He murmured beneath the roar and thrust of the takeoff. „Your life, too, will contain some happy, beautiful times, but also some dark shadows. Here‟s a lesson I want to teach you to save you much heartache and allow you to abide in Me with continual peace and joy. You see, it doesn‟t matter which window you look through; this plane is still going to Cleveland. So it is in your life. You have a choice. You can dwell on the gloomy view, or you can focus on the bright things and leave the dark, ominous situations to Me. I alone can handle them any way. Learn this one simple concept and act on it; you will be released from your burdens and be able to experience the true peace that passes understanding; a peace that I desire for you to have.‟ ”
My prayer for each of you is that as we enter into this wonderful new year filled with opportunities, you are able to enjoy the view of each blessing and let God handle the dark and gloomy issues of life! (Matthew 11:28-30 & 1 Peter 5:7)
See you in worship!
Karl
